Just a few weeks after dropping her ‘playful’ track “GTFO,” Mariah Carey gets serious for her brand new single titled “With You.”
Produced by Mustard (formerly known as DJ Mustard), “With You” finds Carey back in her playing field of delivering a quality ballad. On the track, Carey sings about the reality of being in a relationship and that fact that it isn’t always easy.
“Ooh, shots around me / Playing confessions, and our bodies planned it / Ooh, I’m in love, it’s true / Yeah, damn I fucks with you / And we all make mistakes sometimes / But we muddle through,” she sings.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a Mariah Carey song with an SAT word. This time she included ‘trepidation’ in the lyrics, which means, “A feeling of fear or agitation about something that may happen.”
“With You” is the lead single from Carey’s upcoming 15th studio album that will follow 2014’s Me. I Am Mariah…The Elusive Chanteuse.
In other news, Carey is set to perform at the American Music Awards, which airs live on October 9 at 8 p.m. on ABC. Fans can expect her to perform “With You” for the first time on television.
