Nivea is on the verge of a soaring comeback with her newest single “Circles.”
On the Avevo-produced track, the R&B vet belts with clarity and holds back at the precise moments to amplify the stinging lyrical content. “My love was so true / Why did you abuse it?” she emphasizes with airy vocals.
Along with the new recording, Nivea has shared an accompanying visual. Directed by Travail Donna D and Greg Garvin, the straightforward clip sees her arguing with an estranged lover. They exchange scorned looks and towards the end, Nivea cuffs him to a chair and pours lighter fluid on him. Although it was a daydream in the video, it still paints a vivid picture of the frustration embedded in the lyrics.
After a long hiatus since her 2006 release, Animalistic, fans expecting a record with depth and emotional resonance will be gratified to know that Nivea accomplished that with “Circles.”
In other news, Nivea has been making waves in the current musical landscape by securing a feature ( “Dope New Gospel” ) Lil Wayne’s long-awaited album Carter V. She also appeared in BET’s new original digital series, Finding.
