D’Angelo has taken his talents to the video game industry. The R&B veteran has performed new track titled “Unshaken” from the Red Dead Redemption 2 soundtrack.
Backed by a minimalistic folk instrumental, which sounds suited for the Wild West era, D’Angelo slows the pace down considerably as he lays down subdued vocals.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is a sprawling action-adventure game that chronicles the tumultuous events of 1899, and it follows the life of outlaw Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang. In a world that’s becoming increasing modernized, the role of outlaws and vagabonds becomes progressively more volatile. It is up to Arthur to fight against the changing times and life-altering decisions.
As for D’Angelo, being the low-key musician that he is, hasn’t given any remarks on his involvement with RDR2. The “Unshaken” record is his first music release since his acclaimed 2014 work Black Messiah with The Vanguard. The LP won a Grammy for Best R&B Album in 2016.
