Trey Songz took time out his busy week to stop by E! News’ Daily Pop on Tuesday (Nov. 27).
The R&B heartthrob was cool, calm and collected as hosts Justin Sylvester and Morgan Stewart talked about sliding in DMs, as well as new music and his new film, Blood Brother, which hits theaters this Friday (Nov. 30).
For his first-ever lead role, Songz plays a cop, who runs into a recently released convict that seeking revenge on his friends, whom he believes let him take the fall for a crime they all committed together. His character Sonny is one of the friends and is determined to end the violent rampage and right the wrongs of their past.
Being in previous movies such as Texas Chainsaw 3D and Baggage Claim, he expressed that each movie role “gave me the confidence to shoot this film.”
The hosts couldn’t help but ask if Songz was “Shootin Shots” in anyone’s DMs on Instagram like his new single insists. He smoothly pleads the fifth but admitted that he occasionally posts his funny and outrageous DMs on his Instagram.
Prior to the release of Blood Brother, Songz released a surprise double mixtape yesterday (Nov. 28) in celebration of his 34th birthday titled 11.28. The 20-track project features appearances from Jacquees, Chris Brown and Tory Lanez.
