Leon Thomas is literally under fire in the music video for “PLW.”
Eight seconds into the cruel visual, you can tell Thomas is about to get more than he bargains for. He walks up to an uninhabited graffitied warehouse where he hands a black admission ticket to a well-dressed bouncer who stood at the entrance. From that point, he gets comfy in a metal chair and gazes upon a flexible beauty who escapes from Pandora’s box.
“PLW,” which is the acronym for “pretty little weapon,” is one of seven tracks from Thomas’ August release, Genesis. The EP includes previously released tracks “Sunken Place” and “Favorite” featuring Buddy. Elle Varner and Tayla Parx also make vocal cameos.
“It’s honestly the beginning of the narrative of my creativity,” Thomas explained to Rated R&B about Genesis. “When it comes to artists like Pharrell and Kanye West, you know that they are apart of each and every aspect of their creation and that’s what I wanted to showcase on this record. It’s not a full-length album, it’s an EP. So, it was a really short and sweet, concise version of all the different aspects of the production styles that I do. It’s real stories from my life. It’s the beginning of showing people I’m more than just an actor. I’m more than just a producer and a writer. I’m a creator. I’m an artist.”
