Ella Mai occupies the gym bleachers to watch the “Shot Clock” countdown in her latest video.
An unfazed Mai is found in a number of open and intimate settings hearing out the list of excuses from suitors who are vowing for her time. Needless to say, if a guy is attempting to pursue Mai, he might want to come with a prepared speech because he only has 24-seconds.
“Shot Clock,” the third single from Mai’s self-titled debut, entered the top 20 on urban radio today. The song has collected nearly 2,000 radio spins in a two-month period. Her earned her first number one song of 2019 with “Trip.”
Mai is currently on the European leg of her Debut Tour, with Jvck James as her supporting act. Following her residency overseas, she will return to the states in February and make stops in major U.S. cities including Seattle, Las Vegas, Chicago, Boston, Atlanta and many more. Kiana Lede and Lucky Daye will serve as special guests in North America.
After her U.S. trek, Mai will be hitting the stage at Coachella and the Broccoli City Festival in April. In award-related news, she is up for two Grammy Awards, including Song of the Year (“Boo’d Up”) and Best R&B Song (“Boo’d Up”). The 61st Annual Grammy Awards will air live on Sunday, Feb. 10, at 8 p.m. EST/ 5 p.m. PST. The ceremony will be hosted by 15-time Grammy winner Alicia Keys.
