No one ever wants to stay in their emotions, but for Shay Lia, she’s perfectly fine being immersed in her feelings. On “Feels,” her first song of the year, she puts it all on the line and lets her lover know how their actions cause her to feel uncertain about their future.
She tenderly sings on the first verse, “Calling you some names / Crying out the hurt and the pain / One of us has changed / But my feelings remain the same.”
Speaking on the new record, Lia revealed on Twitter, “‘Feels’ is my most intimate song. Wrote about the conflicted mess I was going through last year in my relationship. It was emotionally taxing but learned a lot and I’m so thankful for that. I feel more balanced and confident than ever.”
In 2018, Lia opened up about this relationship on her release, “The Cycle,” while she made an appearance on Kaytranada’s NOTHIN LIKE U / CHANCESEP. She plans to release an EP of her own later this year.
