A week after his Saturday Night Live debut, Gary Clark Jr. has released This Land, his third studio album on Warner Bros. Records.
Throughout the 15-track soul record, which ranges from sounds of rock, blues, R&B, reggae and hip-hop, Clark unleashes his rage and his strong emotions on the racism and the Trump administration. The project includes his previously heard singles “Feed the Babies,” “Pearl Cadillac,” and the striking title track.
“I felt unburdened by my anger kind of immediately, after I got into the booth,” Clark told The Guardian after penning the album’s leading song. “Playing the record for people at the label, getting their immediate support, I thought, “Alright, people are really willing to hear this and it’s beautiful.” It’s about time. When the video was released, I was like, “Yes, this is how we feel.”
On March 9, Clark will hit the road for a North American tour in support of This Land. The first show kicks off in Miami and will wrap up in Nashville after a trio of shows on April 7.
