Buzzing singer Leah Jenea pays homage to the late Nina Simone on her debut EP, Leah Meets Nina.
The six-track project, which features the lead single “Stick to the Promises,” contains Jenea’s original material with samples of Simone’s biggest hits.
“[I was] inspired by Nina’s unapologetic attitude as well as her determination as a black woman to push the culture forward,” Jenea said in a statement.
Jenea is currently serving as a supporting act on Marsha Ambrosius’ Nyla Tour, which wraps up on March 17 at The Varsity Theatre in Baton Rouge, Louisianna.
