Could Monica be the next R&B act to drop a surprise album? The R&B veteran has hinted on Instagram her next album, Chapter 38, is dropping in the near future.
Although details remain vague, Mo did confirm her next project will address “love, joy, pain, heartbreak, redemption, and the ability to stand strong.”
“Commitment,” the album’s lead single, is making its way up the Billboard Adult R&B Songs chart. After three weeks, the ballad stands at No. 18 on the airplay chart this tracking week.
Monica has been working with the likes of Polow Da Don and PJ Morton on Chapter 38. She completed five songs within a four-day recording session with the latter musician, who recently won his first Grammy.
Chapter 38 will be Monica’s first independent release under her label imprint MonDeenise Music, Inc. The release will serve as the follow-up to 2015’s Code Red, her final album on RCA Records.
