A month after sharing the news on her forthcoming album She’s Back, Dionne Warwick gives fans another taste of what’s in store from the release.
The legendary singer and Musiq Soulchild have teamed up for a rendition of Atlantic Starr’s ’80s hit “Am I Dreaming,” which finds the two in sheer bliss.
The reworking of the classic is modern and compliments Warwick’s gentle cadences and Musiq’s smooth vocal approach. Their sweet tones together make remake an honorable version behind the 1999 cover by Ol Skool with Xscape and Keith Sweat.
“Am I Dreaming” featuring Musiq Soulchild is one of three collaborations on She’s Back, which arrives on May 10 via Kind Music Group/Entertainment One. She also invited Kenny Lattimore (“What Color Is Love”) and Krayzie Bone of Bone, Thugs & Harmony (“Déjà Vu”) for the ten-track album.
Warwick launched this new album era with an updated version of the Burt Bacharach/Hal David classic, “What The World Needs Now Is Love,” which Warwick originally recorded in the 1960s.
Ahead of releasing She’s Back, her first dedicated R&B/soul album since 1969’s Scepter Records effort Soulful, Warwick can be seen performing a Las Vegas residency at the Jubilee Theater at Bally’s. The run of shows will wrap up on April 27.
