Mariah Carey will receive a ‘standing o’ at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards. Dick Clark Productions and NBC announced the songbird supreme will be honored with the coveted Icon Award for her impressive chart run throughout the last two decades.

With the record for the most number one singles (18 to be exact) on the Hot 100 for a solo artist, two diamond-selling albums and countless deeds to sound of pop music, Carey is more than deserving of this Icon title.

Carey will join the ‘iconic’ class of music greats like Janet Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Prince, and Celine Dion.

At this time, Billboard has not revealed who will participate in Carey’s tribute. Since the North American leg of her Caution Tour has ended, Carey may dazzle us with a medley of her hits or her current radio single “A No No,” which has remix treatment from Stefflon Don and Shawni.

Hosted by Kelly Clarkson, the 2019 Billboard Music Awards will air live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Wednesday, May 1 at 8 p.m. EST.
