Nicole Bus is on top. The soul siren’s breakout record “You” is the new number one single on the Billboard Adult R&B Songs chart.
Moving from No. 4-1, the nostalgic track dethrones “Karma” by Queen Naija to lead the pack. “You” entered the chart at No. 24 eight weeks ago. Bus now ties with R&B veterans Sparkle and Carl Thomas for reaching the summit with a debut song entry in record time. Both of their respective hits “Be Careful” and “I Wish” went number one in eight weeks.
“I remember 10 years ago I met this gentleman who was a writer for Billboard. In my heart, I said one day I will be on that Billboard chart…I never thought it would be a number 1,” wrote Bus on Instagram about her first chart-topper.
In April, Bus recruited Ghostface Killa for a “You (Remix).” A month prior, she enlisted Rick Ross for an alternate version.
Bus will join rap acts Cardi B, Teyana Taylor and City Girls for their two-date Femme It Forward Tour on May 25 and May 26 in New York.
Before the end of the year, Bus is slated to release her debut album via Roc Nation.
