Ro James is hard at work on his sophomore album.
Since claiming his first top 10 single of 2019 with “Excuse Me,” the singer has been subtly sharing details about the follow up to his 2016 debut ELDORADO.
James recently hopped on social media to describe his futuristic approach for his second album, saying he is going to “do shit different this time” and that he’s “traveling to another dimension.”
He noted his new album will consist of a “smorgasbord of sounds and feelings” that borrow from genres like “blues and rock n roll” along with a “lil hip hop.” James’ future full-length album will also include cues of reggae and gospel.
If his enticing ads for his new album weren’t enough, James excited his fans on Instagram with small talks about a mini tour with fellow crooner Luke James and a few unannounced musical homies.
Last year spring, Rated R&B caught up with James to discuss his untitled second album.
“ELDORADO was my first time going to the label saying, ‘I don’t want to do this, this is who I am’ and accepting their advice too, so we can create something timeless,” he said. “My next album is the same process — growing with people who now are a part of your trajectory, your growth and who you are. I had a concept from the jump but the thing is finding the sound that matches the concept. It was definitely harder but I enjoyed the process.”
