With the number one R&B single in the country, Johnny Gill has released the official video for his “Soul of a Woman.”
The Chris Spencer-directed video opens with Gill calling his lady, played by comedian Tiffany Haddish, to see if she is still attending his special late-night show. Haddish tells him she’s unable to make the event but later surprises him at the front of the stage while he is performing.
“Soul of a Woman” is the lead single from Gill’s forthcoming album due later this year. The LP is the follow-up to 2014’s Game Changer, which spawned several hits, including “Behind Closed Doors” and “5000 Miles” featuring Jaheim.
Gill, who closed the 2019 BET Awards with Maze and Frankie Beverly’s “Before I Let Go,” is performing a three-night residency in Alexandria, Virginia at The Birchmere. The first show starts on July 26.
