Someone lock up Gallant’s vicious lover and throw away the key. On his heinous new single “Crimes,” the R&B crooner unpacks loads of evidence that proves his unlawful lady is guilty of attempting to control his life.
“I’m against this method of madness / A weapon of sadness, girl I can’t remember the last time / You took my indifference for peace,” he sings.
Gallant premiered “Crimes” on Zane Lowe’s Apple Music Show on Wednesday afternoon. He shared the version listeners are hearing is one of many different recordings. He added the song took a year and a half to curate, which was a collaborative effort from his “homies.”
“Crimes” is the second taste of new music from Gallant’s upcoming sophomore album. The follow-up to 2016’s Ology includes “Sharpest Edges.” He showcased his footwork in the accompanying visual.
Starting on September 21, Gallant is traveling the world alongside Sabrina Claudio for her The Truth Is Tour. The first stop is in Los Angeles at The Wiltern.
