If there’s one thing to say about Dinah Jane this year, she’s been consistent with dropping new music. The former Fifth Harmony member keeps the music love going with a fresh new song that can be listened to all “SZNS.”
The A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie-assisted track is a romantic ode packed with nostalgic feelings. Jane draws you into the breezy collaboration with her airy vocals as she sings about a love that gets stronger year round.
A Boogie isn’t far behind on the duet, alternating between singing and rapping about asking his girl to teach him how to love again.
Jane told MTV News that hip-hop collaborations of the 2000s like Cam’ron’s “Hey Ma” featuring Juelz Santana and Nelly and Kelly Rowland’s “Dilemma” influenced her new record.
“Those kind of songs stood out to me as a kid,” she said. “I noticed that they didn’t have a formula and they kind of just went with the vibe. There was never anything like, ‘She goes here, and then he comes, and then she comes, and then he goes.’ I feel like that gets played out. I love that we’re all over the place and we’re not just a stick version of a song.”
“SZNS” is Jane’s latest standalone track of 2019 since “Retrograde.” Two months prior to the latter track, Jane dropped a three-track EP titled Dinah Jane 1.
