Teyana Taylor is a working girl. The singer/entertainer has joined the all-star cast of Paramount’s sequel to 1988’s comedy film Coming to America, according to Collider.
The film, which is scheduled to begin production later this month, will follow Prince Akeem (Eddie Murphy) as he prepares to take his place as King of Zamunda. His candidacy for the throne takes a backseat when he discovers he has a son he never knew about in America. To uphold his father’s dying wish to groom his son as the next prince, Akeem and his royal advisor Semmi (Arsenio Hall) set course for America to find him.
Taylor, whose new role is under wraps, is no stranger to acting. She has starred in several television sitcoms and movies, including Star, The Breaks, Hit the Floor and The Trap.
Coming to America 2 is set to premiere in theaters on December 18, 2020.
On the music front, Taylor released a spicy bedroom jam titled “How You Want It?” featuring King Combs. She also debuted a ‘90s-inspired video that gives an ode to hip-hop videos directed by the acclaimed Hype Williams.
