Ty Dolla $ign is bringing the heat on New Music Friday. The Los Angeles hitmaker hops on the melodic chours of Megan Thee Stallion and Nicki Minaj’s new anthem “Hot Girl Summer.”
He also has released “Hottest in the City,” a club banger he debuted on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last week.
In just a three-minute run, Ty relishes in his playboy status while his co-stars Juicy J and Project Pat offer up punchlines.
“Hottest in the City” is the second offering from his untitled follow-up to 2017’s Beach House 3. He came out with “Purple Emoji” featuring J. Cole in May.
In a recent interview with Spin, Ty talks about how Kanye West gave him advice on making his new album a masterpiece. “I had a meeting one time with Kanye and played him the album,” Ty revealed in his conversation.
“He was like, ‘Bro, nah. You need to do what you do. Add more bass, add more drums, add more … the real shit, that’s what no one else is doing.” That conversation definitely inspired me and made me go back and go crazy with the live instruments.”
For this much-anticipated album, Ty isn’t worried about making an impact on radio. He just wants to “give people some good music to listen to—something that sounds different from everybody else’s shit.”
