Since the top of the year, Tori Kelly has been sharing the most personal parts of her life through her music. Now, after a handful of songs and supporting videos, the two-time Grammy winner is putting everything on the line for her new album, Inspired by True Events.
From the harmonic-acoustic opener “Coffee” and the worry-free “Kid I Used to Know” to the passionate performance of “Change Your Mind,” Kelly addresses realities from her past and current life to dream up a memorable follow-up to 2018’s Hiding Place.
It helps that Kelly has a clear, elastic vocal range on this particular album because her emotional outpouring sounds more natural flowing and not forced.
“This is by far the most vulnerable I’ve been in my music and even though it was a little scary, I know it’s exactly where I needed to be for this chapter of my life,” wrote Kelly on Instagram about her new album.
