Turn your stereo up — The Shindellas have another word to carry us through. The R&B trio is not into pretending on their revealing new number “Costume.”
This introspective record, produced by Louis York (Claude Kelly and Chuck Harmony), finds the three vocalists focused in looking beyond outward appearances to unearth the best parts of someone.
“I want to see the real you / Let me see the real you / Can I see the real you / Ain’t gotta wear costume tonight,” they sing.
“Costume” adds to The Shindellas’ growing list of thought-provoking songs released over the last year. Their empowering catalog includes “Chills,” “It Wasn’t Really Love,” “Happy to See You,” “Ain’t That the Truth,” and their debut single “Reconsider.”
The Shindellas also appear on Louis York’s thrilling anthem “No Regrets.”
