It’s not guaranteed that an artist’s first record will be a hit. For Ciara, this uncommon feat came true fifteen years ago.

In June 2004, she released her debut single “Goodies” featuring rapper Petey Pablo.

During the week of September 11, 2004, the Lil Jon-produced banger finally peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. It remained at the top of the summit for seven consecutive weeks.

It also peaked at No. 1 on Billboard’s Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop chart and remained there for five weeks.

“Goodies” was the lead single and title track of her debut album, which released on September 28, 2004, via LaFace Records.

Revisit “Goodies” by Ciara below.
