The nominations for the 2019 Soul Train Awards have arrived. Chris Brown is the leading the pack with eight nods for the success of his certified-gold album, Indigo.
Beyoncé and Lizzo follow Brown with six nominations total, competing for best R&B/soul female artist and best dance performance.
Up against Lizzo in multiple categories is Khalid, who racked up the third-most nods with five total, including two for Disclosure-produced hit “Talk.”
Other nominated artists include Mary J. Blige, Bruno Mars, Ciara, Ari Lennox, H.E.R., Daniel Caesar, Kelly Rowland, Summer Walker, Fantasia and more.
Legendary production and songwriting duo Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis will be honored with the Legend Award for their indelible contributions to the music spectrum.
With an illustrious career that spans over three decades and 16 number one pop hits, the duo are responsible for beloved songs by some of the music’s most elite artists, including Janet Jackson, Michael Jackson, Boyz II Men, Mariah Carey, Usher, Mary J. Blige, Sounds of Blackness, and countless others.
Gospel legend Yolanda Adams will be presented with The Lady of Soul Award.
Hosted by Tisha Campbell and Tichina Arnold, BET Presents: 2019 Soul Train Awards will air live on BET and BET HER for the first time from the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas on November 17 at 8 p.m. ET.
