As PJ Morton gears up for his Paul Tour next month, the Grammy winner releases a music video for his inspirational record “Don’t Let Go.”
This Nathan Corrona-directed visual starts off with deliberately slow frames around what appears to be an abandoned home. The residence isn’t vacant. A young black woman is lying on a bed, battling real-life struggles of depression.
The woman lays her eyes on a gun that could be the unfortunate antidote to her misery. You’ll have to watch the entire video to see how things play out.
“‘Don’t Let Go’ I wrote as a modern hymn,” Morton said in a statement. “Growing up in church we sang hymns to help us feel better and encourage us. I realize that today so many people are going through things. ‘Don’t Let Go’ is just to encourage them that they aren’t alone and that they’re necessary.”
“Don’t Let Go” is the third track off Morton’s Paul album to get packaged visually. He also released a video for “Ready.”
Noted as “a solid album that is packed with positive affirmations” by Rated R&B, his new album features his first number one R&B hit “Say So” featuring JoJo.
Morton has partnered with Urban Outfitters for a vinyl release of Paul. The LP will hit UO stores on October 17.
On November 7, Morton officially kicks off his world tour at the Crescent Ballroom in Phoenix. Tickets are available now on his official website.
