Good news: the release date for PJ Morton’s new album is right around the corner.
The multi-instrumentalist has announced his upcoming album Paul will be released on August 9 via Morton Records/Empire. The release date comes just a week after sharing the title for his follow-up to 2018’s Gumbo Unplugged (Live).
Paul is comprised of 10 tracks and includes the single “Say So” featuring JoJo. Beyond the latter duet guest, Morton has selected Jazmine Sullivan, Tobe Nwigwe, Rapsody, and Angela Rye to be a part of his next masterpiece.
In addition to the tracklist and release date announcement, Morton has shared Paul’s opening track “Ready.” The uniquely-crafted slow jam illustrates a budding romance that will only fully blossom once the person being is persuade is willing to take a chance on love.
Morton, who is the King of Albums right now, also accompanied the album opener with a music video that offers a comedic spin to the refreshing track.
Beyond his Paul album, which is available for pre-order, Morton is readying his history-making live album that he recorded during his visit at the 2019 Essence Festival. He is also the brainchild behind two gospel projects for Tyscot Music & Entertainment.
In August, Morton will play at the 12th annual Outside Lands Festival. He will join other acts like Childish Gambino, Leon Bridges, Ella Mai, Alina Baraz, Cautious Clay, and more.
