While Kehlani is in mommy and album mode, the Bay Area singer has blessed fans with new music to hold them over. She has released an unmixed and unmastered version of her new song “You Know Wassup.”
Co-produced by The Rascals (Justine Skye, Arin Ray) and Antonio Dixon (JoJo, Toni Braxton), Kehlani divulges her current emotions about her relationship with rapper YG.
On the hazy and rippling production, she sings on the chorus, “You got demons, I got trauma / We both got triggers, I hate drama / I’m embarrassed, I’m in shock / He wide open, and I don’t stop / And I watch your demons cause me trauma / Now I’m triggered, all this drama / You’re embarrassed and in shock / We still in love and this shit don’t stop / Man, this shit don’t stop.”
Kehlani has been working diligently on her highly anticipated sophomore album, slated to arrive next year. She shared on Twitter that the sound for her new album is “SoundCloud Kehlani all grown up.” The album will follow her mixtape While We Wait, which was released in February.
The song will be available on streaming platforms in the upcoming weeks.
