Legendary Xscape member Tamika Scott is riding high on Family Affair, her first solo project since her reunion with the iconic ’90s group.
On her solo debut, Scott brings all the elements that embody a classic R&B work — sultry production, powerful vocals, and tenacious themes make Family Affair a go-to project for all ages.
On the empowering “Almost Over,” released back in August, Scott gives some of her best vocals to date over a bright R&B production singing the lyrics, “Everything happens for a reason / Yes, this is your season / Just keep on believing / Blessings you’ll be receiving.”
The six-track project features guest appearances from 112’s Q Parker, musical duo OSHUN and Scott’s daughter Young Niyah.
“My inspiration for my new EP Family Affair is being able to share my first solo project with my family,” Scott exclusively tells Rated R&B. “There’s alot of talent in my family and we walk around our home creating and having a good time, so it feels good to be able to put some of the things on my project.”
Family Affair serves as a follow-up to Scott’s debut lead single “Tonite,” released back in April.
