‘Tis the season of Mariah Carey. After securing her 19th number-one single this week with “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” the Queen of Christmas has released an updated visual for her iconic song.
From skating Santas to dancing nutcrackers, the Joseph Kahn-directed clip is filled with festive vibes that could even put The Grinch in the Christmas spirit.
“We wanted to make a modern classic and that has been the theme with this song from the beginning,” Carey said in a live Q&A. “It is the opposite from the original video. This is more of a production but I feel like it has the same spirit if not more because of how the song has affected me over the years.”
“All I Want For Christmas Is You” is lifted from Carey’s 1994 album, Merry Christmas. In November, she released a deluxe anniversary edition of the album, which includes a special bonus disc that includes rare remixes, unreleased live tracks from Carey’s 1994 St. John the Divine Concert and Carey’s new rendition of “Sugar Plum Fairy.”
