Break out your tissues. Grammy-nominated singer Jessie Reyez is giving us the feels on her latest track “Love in the Dark.”
Rounding out at just four minutes, the track is simple, yet majestic with a piano, strings and a synth bass, as the driving force of Reyez’s message of eternal love.
“I’ll be around you, I’m nothing without you / I won’t leave you alone / ‘Cause when the stars are falling down / There’s love in the dark,” Reyez belts on the song’s chorus.
Speaking on the song, Reyez said, “I wrote this during a really sad time in my life, I remember crying. I hope people understand how vulnerable it is.”
The accompanying video, directed by Se Oh, sees Reyez losing herself on a starry lake scene surrounded by breathtaking mountains and wide-open skies.
The Canadian singer-songwriter is nominated for Best Urban Contemporary Album for her 2018 EP Being Human in Public at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards. The show will air live this Sunday at 8 PM.
Reyez released her Patsy Cline cover “CRAZY” and the 6LACK-assisted “Imported (Remix)” from her upcoming debut album, Before Love Came to Kill Us, back in 2019. The 15-track LP will release on March 27 via FMLY/Island Records.
