Delivering the goods sometimes can be hard without help. Jessie Reyez calls on 6LACK for the official remix of “Imported” from her Being Human in Public EP.
Backed by a skittering, hazy beat, the two blunt singers trades verses about getting past their current bae to get with a new one.
As their voices intertwine on the hook, they sing, “You, you’re in love with somebody / Maybe I could offer some help / Get over them by getting’ under me / But, you might OD if you get too much of me.”
Reyez dropped an official music video the 6LACK-assisted track. Directed by Zac Facts, the two stars are seen in a bare home, struggling to cope with their intense emotions for each other
“We wanted it to be this surreal feeling; the concept of someone being out of your life but they’re still stuck in your head,” Reyez explained to MTV in a statement. “Someone can be miles away, but if they’re in your heart that means they’re locked in your head, too. No matter how much you try to get away from somebody, they’re there.”
Aside from dishing on the new music video, she gave an update on her debut album that has been almost three years in the making. With more than “hundred” songs recorded for the album, Reyez is currently making the hard decision to curate a track list that will feature the most meaningful songs.
On April 27, Reyez is set to perform at the second annual Sol Blume Festival at the Cesar Chavez Plaza in Sacramento.
6LACK has been all about collaborations this year. He joined forces with Kehlani for “RPG,” which appears on her While We Wait mixtape. He dropped a splashing video for his “Waves” duet with Normani and teamed up with QUIÑ for “Mushroom Chocolate.”
6LACK is set to perform at various festivals this summer, including the Broccoli City Festival later this month, Beale Music Festival in May, and the FVDED in The Park and WE THE FEST in July.
