If you’re looking for some new tunes from Daniel Caesar, then you’re in luck.
The Grammy-winning singer/songwriter dropped a single of two oldie-but-goodie tracks, an ode to the timeless 7” single format, exclusively on Spotify.
Caesar’s latest offering is revamped version of the 2019 hit “Cyanide” from his sophomore album Case Study 01 and a rendition of Bitty McLean and Sly & Robbie’s “Made to Fall in Love.”
On the former, Caesar pulls back on the rhythm of his initial recording, making for a raw, soulful sound that keeps his signature vocal intact. The latter slows things down from McLean and Sly & Robbie’s original record to a swooning pace made serene yet still danceable.
On his decision to cover “Made to Fall in Love,” he commented “It feels like I’m driving through Ocho Rios with the top down every time I hear ‘Made to Fall in Love.’ It makes me smile every time.”
Recorded last year with Matthew Burnett, Jordan Evans, and William Garrett behind the board at Electric Lady Studios in New York City, the EP is a good vibe made for the summertime.
Daniel Caesar closed out 2019 with his “Cyanide Remix” featuring KOFFEE, which has accumulated over 5.1 million streams on Spotify to date.
