Earth Day 2020 may be a distant memory, but UMI‘s ethereal tribute “Mother” continues to wrap listeners in the color of the wind.
The landscape of the Yakob and Fwdsixsh-produced puts you in the mind of a spring scenery, with flowers blooming and birds taking flight. For the rising star, the song has a more profound meaning.
“I believe there is a deep connection between Earth and Mother. The idea that Mother Earth is a selfless creator and giver,” UMI said in a press statement. “I wrote this song as a letter of gratitude to Mother Earth and to my own mother for this existence. I hope that through this song we become more aware of our connection to Earth and our responsibility to protect it. Every day is Earth Day.”
UMI gives “Mother” more emphasis with the release of the official music video. Watch it above.
Not too long before releasing “Mother,” UMI collaborated with Kyle Dion for his latest song “Play Too Much” with Duckwrth. The song appears on his deluxe edition of SUGA.
Also earlier this year, UMI dropped the softly dreamy “Picture Perfect.”
