After declaring his independence on “Pinky Ring,” Ne-Yo releases his new single “U 2 Luv” featuring Jeremih.
“My friend @jeremih and I have created the perfect soundtrack for you and quarantine bae,” Ne-Yo wrote on Instagram.
The lovey-dovey jam, produced by Retro Future and Curtis “Sauce” Wilson, contains sonic references from two classic R&B jams: Mtume’s “Juicy Fruit” and Zapp’s “Computer Love.”
“Add Netflix to this massage, better yet turn that shit off / ‘Cause I love to hear you cussing at me Like ‘Ooh, shit, baby too deep’ / You never felt this feeling when I touch you,” Ne-Yo sings in the first verse.
Jeremih comes in on the second verse, singing, “Let’s lay down while we watch stars / Let’s dance until last call / Wake up, you text you thinking about me.”
In celebration of his new single release, Ne-Yo has partnered with Postmates to support healthcare professionals caring for COVID-19 patients.
Both “U 2 Luv” and “Pinky Ring” are expected to appear on Ne-Yo’s forthcoming album that will release on Compound Entertainment/Motown Records.
In other news, Ne-Yo has returned as a judge for the fourth season of NBC’s World of Dance.
