On the heels of their acclaimed sophomore effort, Ungodly Hour, Chloe x Halle took over the 2020 Citi Concert Series on the TODAY show with an at-home rendition of their hit song “Do It.”
The morning show performance sees the sister duo effortlessly harmonizing to their latest bop behind a heavenly cloud background from their tennis court in bright jumpsuits.
Chloe x Halle told host Hoda Kotb the reason why they postponed the original release date for Ungodly Hour was due to the global unrest against police brutality.
“Emotionally, we just were not in the right headspace to release our album and we did not want the attention to be on us,” Halle explained to Kotb.
Chloe added, “We’re so happy now that it’s out because we can kind of use our music as a healer in a way…If we could make one person smile from creating this project then we’ve done our jobs.”
Ungodly Hour was released a week after its promised June 5 release date to critical and commercial acclaim. The album’s current single “Do It” is climbing the urban radio chart, circulating in the top 40. Its accompanying video has over 10 million views on YouTube.
The duo recently released the video for “Forgive Me.”
