Lianne La Havas‘ upcoming self-titled album is shaping up to be one of the most exciting releases of 2020.
Already three tracks in, the British singer/songwriter draws more attention to the follow-up album to 2015’s Blood with a wicked remake of Radiohead’s hit “Weird Fishes.”
Havas performed the ambiguous song about love and solace at a concert years ago, but has decided to render her own interpretation on wax.
“I’d be crazy not to follow / Follow where you lead / Your eyes / They turn me / Turn me on to phantom / I follow to the edge of the Earth / And I fall off,” she sings in a scratchy cadence.
“Weird Fishes” follows her previously released songs: the deep “Can’t Fight,” the guitar-led “Paper Thin” and the calming “Bittersweet.”
Havas’ forthcoming self-titled album is set to arrive on July 17 via Nonesuch Records/Warner Music UK.
