Reggae sensation Skip Marley has a thing for R&B artists. After teaming up with H.E.R. for his hit single “Slow Down,” the Jamaica-born artist enlists D.C. native Ari Lennox for his new track “Make Me Feel.”
Over a funky production, reminiscent of a mid-tempo summer bop from the early ’00s, Marley and Lennox sing about making the most of what life has to offer.
“Let’s make this a good life / Even through the bad times / Noting can kill this vibe / As long as I feel the way you make me feel,” Marley sings on the chorus, as Lennox’s airy vocals float in the background. She returns in the second verse, “So many people in pain / Thank Jah for the love we share.”
The optimistic message in “Make Me Feel” arrives at a time when the world needs to hear it. Marley’s and Lennox’s vocals blend well together, providing listeners a comforting sound as they reflect on life.
Marley also released a version with an added verse from rap star Rick Ross, which can be heard below. On August 28, Marley will release his debut EP Higher Place via Tuff Gong/Island Records.
