This November, Mary J. Blige will relive her life in the sunshine. The Queen of Hip-Hop Soul has announced that her famed sophomore album, My Life, will be re-released as an expanded edition. The reissue coincides with the album’s 25th anniversary, which was last November.
The Grammy-nominated album will arrive on November 20 via Geffen/UMe and be available in two physical forms: a standard-weight black double vinyl and a translucent blue triple vinyl edition.
The LL Cool J-assisted remix of “Mary Jane (All Night Long)” and the “I Love You (Remix)” featuring Smif ‘N Wessun will be heard on the latter version.
The triple long-player version of My Life will be available digitally, with exclusive commentary by Blige herself about each track. Pre-order the album here.
My Life earned Blige triple-platinum status a year after its November 1994 street date. Rated R&B ranked it her career-best album. The Puff Daddy-spearheaded release is an intimate diary that logs the sensitive worries of her heart and mind. Battered in antique samples from remarkable R&B and gospel stars, the hour-long set is the highlight of her two-decade catalog.
In other news, Blige recently launched a premium wine collection called Sun Goddess. It will be available nationwide this August.
Ahead of her Oscar-buzzing role as Dinah Washington in the Aretha Franklin Respect biopic this December, she can be seen in a lead role in the Power spin-off, Power Book II: The Ghost. It’s expected to premiere in September on Starz.
