R&B icon Trey Songz has dropped the powerful video for his single “2020 Riots: How Many Times” in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.
The striking visual sees Songz standing with protesters during a Black Lives Matter protest, following the unjust deaths of Breonna Taylor, George Floyd and Ahmaud Arbery.
Produced by Troy Taylor, the inspiring single shines a light on institutionalized racism and police brutality. “With the words in this song I just wanted to speak to everyone’s hearts and acknowledge the pain and anguish everyone is going through right now,” Songz said about the track. “I know this ain’t usually my message and you’re not used to hearing this from me, but this is the person I’ve always been.”
To coincide with the video, the Petersburg, Virginia native dropped a line of merch inspired by the track and the movement. You can visit the site here.
Songz recently made his Anticipation I and Anticipation II mixtapes available on streaming services for the first time. He also dropped his Summer Walker-assisted song “Back Home” back in April.
