In an effort to help nightlife venues across America, Crown Royal and Main Street Alliance have partnered together to launch a relief campaign to help clubs, bars and sound stages.
To unveil the velvety collaboration, they paired Ari Lennox and singer/actor Anthony Ramos to recreate the funk staple “If You Want Me To Stay” by Sly and the Family Stone.
“I was honored to be a part of this project with Crown Royal, where Anthony and I were able to use our passions for music to give back during these unprecedented times,” Lennox said in a statement. “Our hope is that people will connect with this cover as much as they did with the original. Ultimately, we want to bridge together generations of music lovers, while encouraging everyone to support local communities.”
Ramos shared, “I am excited to continue my partnership with Crown Royal and give back to bars, stages and clubs. I have always loved what Crown Royal stands for, and this project has motivated me to put in 110% towards the art I put out as we look to directly help these small businesses survive.”
The artists have enlisted their labels Dreamville/Interscope and Republic Records in assisting to release this enticing duet. Crown Royal will donate the proceeds from each stream to Main Street Alliance. Both Lennox and Ramos will donate the song’s royalties to the cause, as the mentioned labels will match their royalties to donate as well.
