Having distinguished himself as an all-around artist for more than a decade, Aloe Blacc now expands his tried-and-true formula after becoming a father for his new album All Love Everything. The record is the follow-up to his Grammy-nominated major label debut Lift Your Spirit.
All 10 tracks are compelling in their own right, like “Glory Days” where he sets his sights on great times ahead with a special person. It’s also an ambitious hybrid of the sounds that have defined his career thus far. “Wherever You Go,” a potential crossover hit, is a nod to his daughter. Blacc assures her that he will be the loving father she rightfully deserves and needs at all times.
All Love Everything features the three previously shared tracks. “I Do,” the leadoff, was released on Valentine’s Day this year. The heart-warming tune was dedicated to his wife of 10 years. He followed with the piano-driven tune “My Way” and the blues-indebted “Hold On Tight.”
Blacc perfectly summed up the sonic direction of his new album and future music in a press statement ahead of All Love Everything. “Rather than a genre, my music is about A.I.M.: affirmation, inspiration, and motivation,” he said. “After so many opportunities to talk about my music and not feel comfortable saying, ‘I’m a pop artist’ or ‘I’m a folk artist,’ I had this realization. My songwriting genre is thematic.”
