Jacob Banks’ electrifying songwriting and innate artistry are brought to life in the tearfully-candid visual for his new song “Devil That I Know.”
Produced by Spencer Stewart and set over a dramatic piano and synth chord progression, Banks stars as the groom in a somber post-marriage tale.
Banks and his newly-appointed bride, portrayed by Gia Ré, ride off into the rest of their life together, as he croons about the fear of leaving the growingly toxic relationship for something completely new and unfamiliar.
“What a way to die / Standing eye to eye / Pretending we’re alive as we grow colder / And oh, the devil that I know / Is better than the devil that I don’t,” Blake sings.
The climactic ode is Banks’ second offering of 2020 following “Stranger” back in September which also features Ré as his co-star.
No word if either “Stranger” or “Devil That I Know” are tied to an upcoming album. Banks’ debut album Village was released back in 2018.
