Yuuup, Trey Songz is back. The Virginia native heads Back Home for his eighth studio album, which is out today.
The 22-track project includes the Summer Walker-assisted title track, “Circles,” “2020 Riots: How Many Times” and the most recent tune “Two Ways.” In addition to Walker, Songz also collaborated with Ty Dolla $ign (“On Call”), Davido (“Sleepless Nights”) and Swae Lee (“Rain”).
“I truly believe music heals and is good for the soul. As an artist, I have the opportunity to be the soundtrack of our times, not just my life,” Songz said in a statement. “Back Home to me is filled with opinions, positions, realities and a deep introspective look into where I’m at in my life. As an artist and new father, I want my music to be a true reflection of my evolution and my commitment to my fans to never forget where I came from. That’s why it’s entitled Back Home.”
Back Home, which will follow Songz’s 2017 LP Tremaine The Album, is executive produced by Songz and his longtime collaborator and mentor Troy Taylor.
