Jazmine Sullivan’s musical comeback is shaping up to be a strong one. Heaux Tales, the beloved vocalist’s first project in nearly six years, has debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard R&B Albums chart during the week of January 23.
According to Billboard, Heaux Tales collected 43,000 equivalent album units. It is Sullivan’s second number-one project on this chart. Her previous album, Reality Show, topped the chart in 2015.
After receiving the news, Sullivan went to Instagram to share a short and sweet message to her supporters. “Thank u,” Sullivan wrote in a caption.
In other chart-related news, Heaux Tales also debuted at No. 4 Billboard 200, becoming Sullivan’s highest-ranked project on this chart. It replaces the Philadelphia native’s debut album, Fearless, which peaked at No. 6 in 2008.
On February 7, Sullivan is scheduled to sing the national anthem at Super Bowl LV. She will be joined by country singer Eric Church. H.E.R., who appears on Sullivan’s track “Girl Like Me,” is also set to perform. She will sing “America the Beautiful.”
