The gold and platinum awards from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) keep coming in for Jhené Aiko.
Chilombo, her latest album and one of Rated R&B’s best R&B albums of 2020, has earned Aiko her first platinum certification of 2021. It marks her very first body of work to achieve platinum status. Last November, the Grammy-nominated artist racked up her third gold album certification for Souled Out, her 2014 debut studio album.
In addition to collecting a platinum plaque for Chilombo, Aiko’s Big Sean-assisted track “Moments,” from 2017’s Trip, is now certified gold.
Most recently, Aiko scored herself a number-one single on urban radio for “B.S.” featuring H.E.R.
At the 2021 Grammys, which takes place on Sunday, March 14, Aiko is in the running for three awards: Album of the Year and Best Progressive R&B Album for Chilombo, as well as Best R&B Performance for “Lighting & Thunder” with John Legend.
