Sonos has teamed up with D’Angelo and FKA twigs to launch their new cycle of exclusive artists’ radio stations on Sonos Radio and Sonos Radio HD.
Feverish Fantazmagoria, custom-made from the elusive neo-soul titian’s musical library, is the first artist-curated station to air today on Sonos Radio HD. Calling the station a “curation of sorts,” D’Angelo describes the grooves expected to be heard throughout the broadcast in a press statement.
“It includes some crate digging; a lot of psych-rock and funk-rock in there, even some gospel and soul. Just a lot of incredible music that’s fun and inspires me,” shared the multi-Grammy winner.
On February 10, FKA twigs’ station, main squeeze, will premiere on Sonos Radio HD. It is expected to feature songs by Ashanti, Pink Floyd, Larry Heard, and many more.
“As an artist, I’ve always been inspired by music that creates a world. 360° visionaries like Prince, André 3000 and Grace Jones have always made me fall in love with music over and over again,” said FKA twigs in a statement on Sonos Radio’s Instagram. “I’m excited to share my station, main squeeze, on Sonos Radio HD because it includes all the amazing artists that have helped shape my world – music I like to get ready to with my friends, songs that have got me through heartbreaks, backstage nerves, and nights out. It’s great to have all this music that has touched me all in one place, I hope you like it.”
Sonos’ Global Head of Music Brian Beck added, “Sonos’ original and artist-curated stations go beyond the playlist format to inspire listeners to discover new music with the personal context and stories that add meaning.”
He continued, “These stations are direct lines into the minds of creators, and opportunities to hear what fuels their creativity in a fresh, raw way. We’re giving listeners a chance to find new music by flipping through the personal record collections of some of the most private but influential artists of our time. It’s taking music discovery to the next level.”
