The televised musical, which also co-stars Whitney Houston (Fairy Godmother) and Whoopi Goldberg (Queen Constantina), originally premiered on ABC on November 2, 1997. It garnered over 60 million viewers, instantly becoming a fan-favorite.

Brandy made history as the first Black woman to play Cinderella, which makes the timing of its release during Black History Month even more special.

Celebrated for its diverse representation, sweeping musical acts, and unforgettable songbook, the 1997 film features an incredible array of beloved and original songs by the iconic songwriting duo Rodgers & Hammerstein, including “Impossible,” “In My Own Little Corner,” “Ten Minutes Ago,” “A Lovely Night,” “Do I Love You Because You’re Beautiful?” and more.

In other news, Brandy will join NBC’s season 20 of The Voice as a battle adviser for Team Legend. She told ET, “I love John Legend. I think he has paved the way for so many artists and just to do what he does, just helping these singers come into their own and find their sound, find their way to be the artist that they wanna be, I just wanted to work with him with that and I just feel like this is a part of my higher purpose.”

Brandy has been promoting her latest album, b7, nonstop. The album, which Rated R&B declared the Best R&B Album of 2020, is nominated for Outstanding Album at the 52nd NAACP Image Awards.
