The official companion album for the highly-anticipated Judas and the Black Messiah, which is out today in theaters and HBO Max, has arrived.
Hit-Boy, Aaron “Dash” Sherrod, Ryan Coogler, and Archie Davis executive produce the 22-song soundtrack that features a star cast of hip-hop and R&B artists.
BJ The Chicago Kid, Kiana Ledé, Masego, SiR, and H.E.R. hold it down for R&B on either solo or collaborative records. The latter musician, who recently performed an awe-inspiring take of “America the Beautiful” at Super Bowl LV, contributed the Golden Globe-nominated song “Fight For You.”
In addition to the R&B superfriends, the Judas and the Black Messiah: Inspired Album includes Nas, JAY-Z, A$AP Rocky, Black Thought, Rapsody, and the late Nipsey Hussle, among many others.
Directed by Shaka King, Judas and the Black Messiah follows the betrayal and assassination of Fred Hampton, chairman of the Black Panther Party, played by Daniel Kaluuya (Queen & Slim, Black Panther). It also stars LaKeith Stanfield (Atlanta, The Photograph) as FBI informant William O’Neal.
