In case you missed the release of Kevin Ross’ comeback single “Looking For Love,” he presents it in visual form with direction from Samuel McKnight.
Here, the grainy visual manages to look reminiscent of a scene from recent Black romances, such as last year’s The Photograph and 2019’s Queen & Slim. It starts with Ross rolling in on his motorbike, entering his shed, and finding a handwritten farewell note from his on-screen love interest.
Elsewhere, in various parts of a homely, vintage trailer, like the hallway floor, Ross is close and personal with his leading lady. In other scenes, she and Ross pose outside near the bike as if they’re shooting pages in the next issue of Essence. What his female lead doesn’t know is that she’ll soon be reading her own note. For its second week on the Billboard Adult R&B Airplay, “Looking For Love” stands at No. 24 after debuting at No. 28. It was also one of the most added songs on R&B radio last month.
Ross’ previous project, Audacity, was released last year as a complete set. It was released first in two installments dispersed throughout 2020. He is now gearing up for the digital drop of Drive 2, due sometime this fall.
