The Weeknd has officially launched a new era. The Grammy-winning singer kicks things off with a fresh single titled “Take My Breath,” which he co-produced with Max Martin and Oscar Holter.
Over an ’80s-inspired production, The Weeknd sings about an undeniable chemistry between him and a love interest.
“Take my breath away / And make it last forever, babe / Do it now or never, babe / Take my breath away Nobody does it better, babe / Bring me close to heaven, babe / Take my breath,” he sings.
The single release comes with a supporting visual, which can be viewed above. In the visual, The Weeknd attends an all-black party where he runs into his mystery lady.
As the two enjoy each other’s presence at the party, The Weeknd begins to literally lose his breath from being around her. You’ll have to watch to see what happens.
“Take My Breath” is the lead track from The Weeknd’s upcoming project, The Dawn, which will follow 2020’s After Hours.
On January 14, 2022, he will kick off The After Hours Tour at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia. He will travel across North America, hitting major cities including Toronto, Chicago, Atlanta, Los Angeles and Nashville.
Towards the end of the summer, he will begin the European leg, which will close out on November 16, 2022.
