Victoria Monét is back with her second new track of 2021 titled “Coastin’.”
On the blast from the ’70s funk past, Monét details how she wants her love experience with her partner to be felt from every part of the world, singing over the hard bass, “Feel like a Thursday, how I’m throwing it back / I’m a make it go north, south, east, west coast.”
Discussing the “Coastin'” in a statement, Monét said, “It’s made for people with that good, chill energy and the bassline instantly puts you in a certain feel! Shoutout to the Stereotypes for killing this production. We wanted this song to represent that freedom to finally go outside. After the year we’ve had, it feels even better to be able to finally Coast freely, make unforgettable memories and have a good ass time.”
Monét released her Jaguar project in August 2020. It ranked No. 5 on Rated R&B’s best R&B albums of 2020. More recently, in February, the singer-songwriter, a new mom, released the new song “F.U.C.K.,” which has a western-style video.
In October, Monét will play at the Brooklyn edition of H.E.R.’s Lights On Festival. The performance lineup includes Maxwell, Ari Lennox, Bryson Tiller, Chloe x Halle, and many more. Get tickets and a full lineup here.
